Bikram Yoga 60 day challenge

I never wrote about this!

Towards the end of last year I decided I was gonna try a 30 day challenge at Bikram Yoga...
well My 30 day challenge went all the way to 62 which was AMAZING!
Doing Bikram yoga every day for 62 days was an amazing experience. some days id feel tired and have a bit of a 'bikram fatigue'...but id come back the next day and be so hyped to be there. One of the best things about doing the challenge is you learn your body's temper....why it hurts here, why you're so flexible there suddenly. Yes the heat makes you more flexible but on an emotional level (at least for me) I learned alot about what my body responds to...what thoughts I don't give enough attention to....mainly because I had no choice but to hang with myself for an hour and a half in silence. SILENCE.
im an artist. I sleep with music or TV on. im always painting, writing, knitting, sewing....doing something. and whatever im doing, there is always music playing.
so since discovering bikram,I'll tell ya...my mind is grateful for the silence-
your mind is always telling your body what to do....constantly.
but with Bikram... it's an hour and a half  that my body and mind very much appreciate and look forward to-where they can meet for an hour and a half long play date :) There are postures where the tables turn and your body is almost dominating and calling the shots over your mind-postures that make you feel these emotions where in your head you're suddenly kissing your husband, or crying over that thing that happened this morning....(seriously,I've seen people cry their lungs out in class). whatever it is, its kinda awesome when it happens. the time in there is yours. your job is to NOT think and let your mind go where it wants to, breath, stretch and follow instructions. stay in the room for those 90 minutes.
but even if you don't have this long therapeutic experience every time, you leave class refreshed and energized. and you'll sleep like a baby!
I'll definitely be doing 30/60 day challenges a few times a year!
plus, the cute shirt and free passes you get for doing the challenges don't hurt either.  you  ALSO get a week free of bikram classes :) #SWEET !!

Next up -90 day challenge...lets do this!
Im SO excited about my upcoming art exhibition in New York City.  its my very first one so im nervous but mostly excited. I got my location secured, my paintings  are ready...its gonna be epic! art exhibition will take place end of April, and you're  invited! check out my facebook www.facebook.com/haileearayamusic and my twitter www.twitter.com/haileearaya for updates

till then im relying on Bikram yoga to keep me sane as I prepare for it all!

Keep the channel open

Martha Graham to Agnes DeMille -
“There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action,
and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique.
And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost.
The world will not have it.
It is not your business to determine how good it is, nor how valuable it is, nor how it compares with other expressions.
It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.
You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work.
You have to keep open and aware directly to the urges that motivate YOU.
Keep the channel open.”
As quoted in “Dance to the Piper and Promenade Home” (1982) by Agnes de Mille
